The South Korean government has won WTO approval to continue its restrictions on Japanese fish exports which were put in place in the wake of the Fukushima nuclear disaster. That will work to the advantage of U.S. fisheries, which saw a 2.5% drop in global exports in 2018 after a slump in shipments to China because of increased tariffs. Exporters to South Korea from the U.S. shipped $498 million of products, or 9.4% of the total, in 2018.
