The Port of Houston saw a fifth straight improvement in container handling in June with a 5% rise on a year earlier. Exports were the main contributor with a 17% rise, while imports increased by just 1%. That was the slowest rate in over two years and was down to a 12% drop in shipments from Mexico offsetting a 9% rise from China. The latter may reverse as duties are implemented against Chinese exports. The drop in handling from Mexico should also turnaround.
